NBI raids two companies in Cebu for software piracy: Total of 82 computers seized

Cebu City – The National Bureau of Investigation yesterday raided two companies in Cebu City for alleged use of unlicensed software. Agents from the Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD) of the NBI raided Cannon Creek Inc., an outsourcing company that prepares right ups for companies through internet research and Design Editions International Inc. which manufactures and designs furniture.
After thorough investigation, the NBI-IPRD was able to gather enough evidence confirming the allegation and secure search warrants from Judge Marino dela Cruz of Manila RTC Branch 22. NBI-IPRD agents flew directly from Manila to serve the search warrant to Cannon Creek Inc. located at E.S. Fortuna St., Mandaue City and Design Editions International Inc. at A.C. Cortez St., Mandaue City.
A total of 82 computers operating with unlicensed software belonging to Adobe Corporation and Microsoft, Inc. amounting to 9 million pesos were seized from the alleged infringing companies, 70 of which were seized from Cannon Creek Inc. while 12 were from Design Editions International Inc.
