CD Replicating Facility at Clark Freeport Raided

On April 13, 2016, OMB Agents were directed to inspect Philippines Global Optic Media, Inc., located inside the Clark Freeport, Pampanga. Subject facility is licensed with the Optical Media Board, however, initial reports indicated that “parallel” CD replication was being done inside their premises (parallel replication is the act of copying illegal compact discs with legitimate copies).
Armed with an Inspection Order, Agents together with the Clark Security Police Force inspected the premises, and found the facility to be in operation and its alleged employees were replicating movie compact discs without the necessary permits.
Seized were three compact disc stampers (a stamper is a master mould valued around PhP10,000.oo each, and can reproduce at least 10,000 CDs), 59 pieces assorted movies produced in DVD-9 format (with an estimated value of PhP20,650), as well as unmetallized compact discs. Seen also from the pile of items were unauthorized discs with recent film titles such as “Batman versus Superman” and “Heneral Luna”
With the amount of evidences seized, Philippine Global Optic Media Inc. now face various administrative cases for violation of Republic Act No. 9239, and was further recommended for immediate closure
